And Another Journey Begins!

Great News! I finished reading Crossed by Ally Condie! I will say that this second book had a lot of thought provoking ideas such as the need for taking control over one’s own destiny by destroying preservation vials or simply hiding old books to learn more about the past. Overall, it was good but I still believe that the first book was more interesting. The only major problem I had with the book was how quickly the ending concluded. It was weird when they finally find the rebels of their society, only to have the story turn around by separating our lover protagonists by go forth in different directions to carry out their new missions that they got from the folks of the Rising. I really disliked how rushed it felt in the end. It felt like the book was giving the reader the middle finger especially since the first half of the book was about Cassia searching and finding Ky. The good things are that I really like how this story is paced. In addition, there were some memorable characters like Indie and Hunter. As much as I want to read the third book, I feel fairly frustrated with this book and its quickly concluded ending.

I’ve been extremely addicted to the new book I’m reading called Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I’m only halfway through and I am so in love with the protagonist. I feel like we readers can definitely relate to Katsa. The way we feel used by family or peers or just that isolated feeling we get when no one seems to understand our true abilities as people. I really wish I could better explain why I love this book but it’s a fairly easy read and I love how I’m learning new things about the protagonist. The character prince, Po, turns out to be a very surprising person. He is very level headed and seems to work perfectly being Katsa’s opposite.

Oddly enough, I had two college professors and a classmate friend who recommended this book to me. I didn’t really believe them that this book would be all that great but then I realized something. Sometimes when it comes to explaining a book, great stories are really hard to describe without giving too much away. This appears to be the case with Graceling. There is so much going on that I can’t really narrow things down to describe why I like it so far. I really love the characters. There are some moments where they make it almost too obvious as to who did what (because there is an element of mystery to this story) so it can feel a little underwhelming at times.  So far, the story is really good. I’m looking forward to finishing it. However then my new task would be to find a new book to read which is hard for me at this time because I’m not sure what I feel like reading next.

Anyway, I’m off to do more mischief and somehow managing it. Have a happy reading time everyone!
