Oh Holy Crap

Where has time gone?

I apologize ahead of time for not keeping up with my posts. So much has been going on and yet, I've still had time to start and finish some books that I have been reading.

As was mentioned before, I started reading Nightshade by Andrea Cremer and finished reading it. Overall, it was a fairly decent story. I personally hated how slow to start this book was, in fact I felt like the book really started to get interesting in the last few chapters. Like most books, this one ended with a cliff hanger ending which encouraged me to get the next novel Wolfsbane by Cremer. I was fairly disappointed with the second novel mostly because the protagonist, Calla, was feeling even more insecure in terms of her own feelings and how torn she felt between two guys. It's becoming a very popular trend now for authors to write about a protagonist with mixed feeling or the idea that the protagonist has to choose between two love interests. I really hate this trend to be honest because there isn't very many people who can do a good job writing about these situations. Yeah, love is complicated but for crying out loud, the entirety of the second book was about Calla being torn and I honestly wished this character existed so I could beat some sense into her. For someone like Calla to be painted as an Alpha and leader of her pack, she really proves to be a weak leader. I wished Calla had more leadership qualities or maybe she should have been written better as a simple lower pack member. Either way, Calla does have her moments when she is interesting to read however I've always felt torn about how I felt about her in general for a character. To be honest, after reading Wolfsbane, I feel quite confident to stop reading the series at this point. The ending of Wolfsbane was just enough for me to assume that the journey is over despite the fact that the author did write the third (and I assume final) book of the Nightshade series and it was called Bloodrose. So again, I don't feel the need to continue this series because the ending of Wolfsbane was enough for me to let go entirely.

A friend suggested the novel Matched by Ally Condie and I read it. I never thought I would be the type of person who would be interested in a post-apocalyptic/ controlled society type of books. However this book really was interesting and overall very entertaining. So entertaining that I got the sequel called Crossed and I am now currently reading that one. I love the series so far and I love the dynamic world and the characters that live in it. I am at a loss of words in terms of describing how good this series is. This series took me completely by surprise and I can't wait to learn more about it.

In addition, I had started reading the book Game of Thrones by  George R R Martin. So far it is really good. I've first seen Game of Thrones the TV show before I knew about the books. I understand that there are some changes made between book and TV show but I'm hoping to learn more about the changes they've made once I'm done reading all the books. The first big thing I noticed about book vs. show is the fact that the ages were changed and I believe it is mainly do to the censorship we have in American television. First of all, Jon Snow is a 14-15 year old boy and Daenerys (Danny) is a 13 year old girl who was married to Drogo (and Drogo is declared to be 35 years or older). So yeah there is a distinct difference in age in the TV show version which would probably be best because even I have a difficult time imagining a poor 13 year old girl being married and impregnated at such a young age. But then again, it is believed that Juliet from Romeo and Juliet were only 14-15 when they were married. So yeah, it's really a fantastic book and a great show.

Sorry if most of this post is a quick rant with very little detail. I've been fairly busy in my schedule that I didn't really have time to write a lot. But hopefully, I will keep up with my posts now that things have settled...a little.

Anyways, have a great day and always have a happy reading time!

A Little Of This And A Little Of That

First announcement that I would like to make is this: I have long since finished reading the book Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon and the book review is still on the way. It was such a delight reading this book and it only took me less than five days to read it. It was a challenge trying to finish my readings when I have random projects and work to attend to. BUT I did finish the book and it was fantastic. More on Styxx will be on the way, I can assure you!

Next thing that I want to explain is just the possibility of a new blog. Its just a matter of me trying something new just to amp up my experience with blogging or at least try a new topic that folks might be interested in. Just a thought and still in progress.

I am currently reading a book called Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.

And finally I would like to share a rather disturbing dream because I want to.

Just last night, I had a dream that I was going to Walmart with a guy friend of mine. Now, the dream me knew that this guy friend had a girlfriend in real life in this dream world, however that didn't stop either of us in this dream from having an affair. By affair I mean: we kissed, we cuddled, we were totally into each other. When we left Walmart and got into his jeep, his girlfriend also walks out of Walmart carrying a baby. A tall man is with her claiming to be her father when I knew in real life that this man wasn't her father, yet he was claiming to be. In addition, I know in real life that the girlfriend doesn't have a child and yet in the dream she claimed it was her child and that my guy friend was the father of it. Completely ignoring me and throwing me in the backseat, the three individuals hovered over the child completely awed by its cuteness. When I was about to be given the baby, (as if it was my turn to hold and awe at the child) the father character snatches the baby away and tells me that I'm not worthy to hold the child. (Which I don't blame him since the dream started off with me cheating). Anyways the car is about to roll out of the parking lot with my guy friend driving until he accidentally backs into and (magically) wrecked a very expensive car with racing decal.

My guy friend knew he was in deep shit, but rather than stopping and waiting to talk to the owner, he drives off. We didn't even make it out of the parking lot when two big guys in leather coats and carrying tire irons jumped out in from the our vehicle and forced us to stop. They were bald men with very stylized facial hair. The one closest to the passenger door commanded us to get out of the car. My guy friend, his girlfriend (and baby), the father character get out of the car and while doing so my guy friend was pleading with the men and asked them not to hurt the baby. I was trapped in the backseat and couldn't get out unless someone pulled the lever to move the seat ahead of me so that I could get out. The two men pulled the lever and discovered me in the backseat with rage written all over their faces. I , for some reason, couldn't help but stare at them with the most dumb expression. I assume that my stupidity was the reason for the one man to randomly seize a knife from his pocket and he perfectly shoved the blade deep and between my ribs. It was that moment that I felt like I was reliving a moment from one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's characters. And the only words that came out of my mouth was a shocked and almost whisper, "Oh my God, that man just stabbed me". My eyes raced to meet my guy friends eyes and although he looked just as shocked as I was, he did nothing to help me. Horror began to kick fully within me especially since my dream guy friend wasn't acting like himself as he would in real life. I knew that in real life, my guy friend would actually be beating the shit out of the man who stabbed me with a knife. However, in dream world, he was just as helpless as the baby in the dream. The men shoved me back and then they both jumped in the car. They drove back into the parking lot as as the blood was pouring out of my wound. I leaned over to the window to notice other people who were also bleeding and tied up along side of the road. I had a feeling in my gut that the men driving the car were going to kill those people by driving over them at full speed when we reached the end of the road. It then dawned on me that they were going to drive me down to the end of the line so that I could join these victims in the blood splattering death.

For the first time in my life, of ever having tons of nightmares, I was able to wake myself up before the men could drive me to the spot where I was going to die. It was also at that moment that I realized that this bizarre dream was highlighting and hinting some things about my future. I honestly don't think it's telling me that I'm going to cheat (although the dream did present some pretty scary consequences for cheating), I looked up some things from http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/ and discovered the following:

Stab
To dream that you have been stabbed signifies your struggle with power. You are experiencing feelings of inadequacy and defensiveness. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you are feeling betrayed as reflected by the popular phrase, "being stabbed in the back".

 Baby
To see a baby in your dream signifies innocence, warmth and new beginnings. Babies symbolize something in your own inner nature that is pure, vulnerable, helpless and/or uncorrupted. If you dream that the baby is smiling at you, then it suggests that you are experiencing pure joy. You do not ask for much to make you happy. If you find a baby in your dream, then it suggests that you have acknowledged your hidden potential. If you dream that you forgot you had a baby, then it suggests that you are trying hide your own vulnerabilities; you do not want to let others know of your weaknesses. Alternatively, forgetting about a baby represents an aspect of yourself that you have abandoned or put aside due to life's changing circumstances. The dream may serve as a reminder that it is time for you to pick up that old interest, hobby, or project again.

 Car Crash
To dream that you are in a car crash indicates that your beliefs, lifestyle, or goals are clashing with another's. It may also represent a shocking situation or painful experience. Alternatively, car crashes may forewarn of your dangerous or careless driving habits. In particular, if a car crashes into you, then it suggests that your lifestyle, beliefs or goals may be in conflict with another's. It may also be symbolic of a jolting experience or injured pride.

 Knife
To dream that you are carrying a knife signifies anger, aggression and/or separation. There may be something in your life that you need to cut out and get rid of. Perhaps you need to cut ties or sever some relationship. Be more divisive. Alternatively, a knife refers to some sexual tension or sexual confrontation.
If the knife is dull, then it denotes that your hard work will result in little or no gain.
To dream that you are wounded by a knife is symbolic of masculine or animalistic aggression.
To see someone holding a knife in your dream suggests that you lack control or power in a situation or relationship. Alternatively, the person holding a knife in your dream may be symbolic of a dominant male figure in your waking life.

Cheating
To dream that you are cheating on your spouse, mate, fiance, or significant other suggests feelings of self-guilt and self-betrayal. You may have compromised your beliefs or integrity and/or wasting your energy and time on fruitless endeavors. Alternatively, cheating dreams reflect the intensity of your sexual passion; you are exploring areas of your sexuality. In this scenario, the dream may actually serve as a reaffirmation of your commitment. Furthermore, if you are approaching your own wedding date, then it is not uncommon to have dreams about erotic experiences with partners other than your intended spouse. Most likely, such a dream represents the newness of your sexual passion. It may also signify anxieties of changing your identity - that of a spouse.

Anyways, that is all I have for now. Again I do apologize for not keeping you all updated. If you all have any comments or questions please let me know. Thanks again and as always having a happy reading time!

And also have sweet and better dreams!

A Change Of Plans! Styxx Is Here!

I know I already proclaimed the next book that I will be reading/reviewing, however, if you know me well, then you'd know I'd drop everything just to read the next new novel released by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Her new book Styxx was just released yesterday and like a dedicated fan, I snagged a copy. I'm a huge sucker for her books and I ended up reading the first 50 pages of her book last night. So far, I absolutely love this book. I honestly have no idea how folks are going to be able to pry me away from this book. It's the first novel that I have ever read that consisted of 700-800 or so pages.

I highly recommend all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's novels, mostly her Dark-Hunter series because I am a huge fan of this new vision of vampires and how they associate with ancient cultures or ancient time period.

I apologize for the short post but......I MUST READ STYXX!!!

See ya later gators!

Have a happy reading time! I know I will!

-Missy

The following photo does belong to the website beneath it, however I did alter the book and added the text to make it look like Sherrilyn Kenyon's book Styxx. Why? Because I'm a bookworm and love these books!

A Short Book Review of The Graveyard Book and an Update!

A Short Book Review: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

I personally have always been a fan of Neil Gaiman's work and for the very first time, I had some mixed feelings with his novel The Graveyard Book. Personally I loved the overall story. This was a fantastic idea. However, I felt like the middle portion of the story to be the most boring part of the novel. I understand that Neil had a great task to explain the story of a young boy growing up but, it was just so frightfully boring. The story was great to start and I absolutely loved the conclusion. The basic gist is that this is a story about a young boy named Nobody, also known as Bod, who grows up living in a graveyard after his family was brutally murdered.

Now, I only have a few minor complaints. I really wish we, the readers, could have gained more knowledge at the beginning to the story explaining the Jacks of All Trades. It would have made more sense and I honestly think it was needed to help push readers in terms of wanting to finish reading the book. In addition, this battle that occurs towards the end with the Guardians, I really wish that this battle was built up a lot more. It felt too rushed, too sudden, and slightly confusing.

Besides the few complaints, this was an enjoyable read. Although I would have liked a little more interesting action in the middle of the book, it did redeem itself in the end.

In addition, I really liked how Neil never explains exactly 'what' or 'who' Silas and Miss Lupescu were. I think there was enormous amounts of evidence which suggest that perhaps Silas is a vampire and Miss Lupescu is a werewolf. Miss Lupescu's name even suggests that she is a wolf. Remember the Harry Potter books and Professor Lupin? His name suggests the same thing. However, Neil never confirms nor denies who these characters are. In fact, by not going into detail, Neil touches upon one of his many important themes of his story and that would be a characters identity. In the novel, it really isn't important to explain to others 'who' or 'what' you are because what is important is for Bod to acknowledge that he already knows exactly who he is. A friend of mine really pushed the idea that the vampire and werewolf identities were really important however I disagreed because Silas isn't a vampire, Silas is simply Silas. That's what really is important to Bod. Just like Miss Lupescu isn't a werewolf, Miss Lupescu is Miss Lupescu. In terms of identity, it's all about accepting who you are. There is no point to explain what you are because it is more important to know who you are.

Hopefully that makes sense because I feel like I could explain it better in person instead of attempting to type out my explanation. Anyways, this was a very good book.

The next book that I have started reading is called Don't Read This Book: 13 Forbidden Tales From Mad City. This book consists of many authors who wrote short stories based on a game called Don't Rest Your Head. I've played the game before and it was such a fun experience that I wanted to read other alternative story lines. It is a horror game and a horror novel that is so delightfully demented...kind of like if Alice visited a very gross and f***** up Wonderland. I recommend playing Don't Rest Your Head and so far, I really love this book. Again, I'm not entirely sure if I will do a book review of this one. Perhaps I will recommend or comment on which short stories I liked the most although most of them are very good so far.

So until next time, have a happy reading time!

Dream Of The Year

Dream of the Year
By: Missy

The dream started off normal from what I could tell. I was myself in the dream and I performed my normal routine of going to Wal-Mart (or Hell-Mart, as what I like to call it sometimes). Although my brain was telling me that I was there to shop for groceries, I found myself in the toy isle where I was looking at two particular dolls (Monster High dolls to be precise). Suddenly, I strongly noticed how bright orange one of the dolls were. It was one of the werewolf sisters, Howleen. I also noticed Lagoona and she seemed to radiate with her cool blue color. The orange in this case was clearly more prominent. I then began to notice textures and Wal-Mart’s cold marble floors changed to downy soft white carpet. For some reason, I felt the need to crawl on all fours and physically touch this softness with my hands. I felt like I was touching the fur of a rabbit or the downy feathers of baby birds. I continued down the now seemingly long Wal-Mart isle and noticed myself heading into the pet department.

The lights went out. Instead of wandering in the dark, a few dim lights (like flames) created a path for me. Instead of being inside Wal-Mart, I noticed that my environment has changed drastically. The ground in which I stood on, reminded me of a swamp and the cold gross green water was completely covered my ankles. The walls and the basic structure of my environment reminded me of my mother’s old piano. The walls and material was made of a really dark…perhaps mahogany wood. Blackwood is what I would like to believe it to be. There were arches that reminded me of a gothic cathedral and although there were windows, none of them contained any stain glass. Rather, these windows lead to the open black night sky. It was a moonless and starless night. As I walked through the water, I noticed on both sides of the walls, there were windows which were peering areas like how someone would look inside animal exhibits at the zoo. The problem was that when I looked through the first few exhibits, the environments were also very swampy however no animals could be found. Moving onward, I came across a specific exhibit which looked like the windows were sealed closed with planks of wood and nails. A wooden sign over the door had dripping red painted letters which spelled “Dracula”. Feeling creeped out by the security of that particular exhibit, I started running. Water splashed up my legs as I raced passed another exhibit which sparked and popped in frenzy. The words “Frankenstein” blazed like bright light bulb and although I refused to peer through the glass of that exhibit, the corner of my eye caught a glimpse of the creature within.

My mind then processed that my running and the environment formed the shape of a U. When I reached the end of this U, my environment changed once again. This time, I was in what looked like to be a farm home. There was no furniture present, and very few decorations hanging on the plain white walls. There weren’t any lights installed in this place however the sunlight coming from the open windows provided me with the light I needed. In this place, I wasn’t myself anymore. In this new location I took on a new form of being a girl with a pair of golden braids and I was wearing a white dress. There were others in the location. There was a boy who may have been 11 or 13 and another girl who also had blond hair but she was clearly shorter than the boy, perhaps she was younger. In this new body, I was the sister to this boy and girl. They also seemed to acknowledge me as their sister. Although they clearly were not my real siblings in reality, in this form I was their family. The boy and girl formed a small circle and started to whisper to each other quietly while sometimes looking at me. They giggled and snickered like they were keeping a secret and I could tell that it was one meant for me to never know. Then the father of this particular family walked in and he looked like a very tall and dark…however he looked like an Amish version of “SlenderMan” only minus the beard. He also talked with the children quietly as if keeping a secret from me. I didn’t quite know what it was about them, but I didn’t feel safe at all. I walked into the bathroom of the home and closed the door behind me. I looked into the medicine cabinet and found an unusual object. I picked up what looked like a sponge made up mostly of straw material. What was unusual about this moment was how I noticed a very predominant smell. It wasn’t a good smell, nor was it a bad smell. All I seemed to notice was that this object had a very strong odor. Since I had picked up this object with my hands, I sensed that the other people in the home sensed that I had touched something that they didn’t want me to touch. I felt the fear rising and seeing the small round blinded window; I opened it and tried crawling through the space. Outside, the farm home was completely surrounded by corn fields (some hay fields). I ran into these fields as the family chased me. I physically couldn’t see it happening however I was cut down from my flight. I suddenly left the gold braided girl and was seeing the scene unfold from a birds eye view. The girl who was once my form laid dead, the boy had cut her with a sharp curved blade. My perspective shifted over to the boy and I was looking at the family and a new person enters the scene. The newcomer was a younger boy with blond hair and the first thing he said was, “I want to be Billy now”. I then acquired this notion that perhaps, these people were characters in a murder story. The boy, whom I was now seeing through his perspective, was the original character playing as Billy. The other characters started to talk to each other on what roles they wanted to be next, however it was clear that the new boy was set on playing Billy. As the character roles fell into place, this unusual family turned their heads at the same time to stare at me. The little boy, now playing as Billy, gave me this evil smile. Fear began to rise again as my concluding thoughts screamed that I was going to be the next victim…again.

This is where the dream ended.

My personal analysis is simply baffled with what I saw and I do highly rank this dream as one of the most unusual dreams of the year (for me at least). This dream was extremely inconsistent and normally I do well in deciphering my own dreams. Never in my whole life have I ever had a dream so detailed with colors, textures, and inner feelings. As a witness to such a dream, I really like how good the transitions were from location to location.

My personal experience has always taught me to be mindful of the details in dreams. As long as you remember simple things like colors, numbers, words, letters, names, objects, and themes, it can be fairly simple to find out the meaning behind it. Based on what I remember, I will create a list of explanations of what I have seen. These explanations can be found on http://www.dreammoods.com. So if any of you have a hard time figuring out your own dreams, you can find most explanations there.

Orange
Orange denotes hope, friendliness, courtesy, generosity, liveliness, sociability, and an out-going nature. It also represents a stimulation of the senses. You feel alive! You may want to expand your horizons and look into new interests

Blue
Blue represents truth, wisdom, heaven, eternity, devotion, tranquility, loyalty and openness. Perhaps you are expressing a desire to get away. The presence of this color in your dream may symbolize your spiritual guide and your optimism of the future. You have clarity of mind. Alternatively, the color blue may also be a metaphor for "being blue" and feeling sad.
If you are wearing light blue in your dream, then it symbolizes your creativity. You like to pace yourself in whatever you are doing.

Wood Paneling (best thing I could find for the mahogany wood I saw)
To see wood paneling in your dream symbolizes your outdated surroundings and thinking. You are stuck in a time period and are looking at the world from an archaic perspective.

Blonde
To see a blond person in your dream suggests that you need to enjoy life and live it up. Be a little glamorous.
To dream that you dye your hair blond indicates that you literally need to lighten up and quit being so serious all the time. Try to be more upbeat.

Hay
To see hay in your dream represents the necessity of hard work; nothing in life comes easy. You may also be feeling hopeless about a situation. Alternatively, hay indicates the need to nurture your maternal instincts, masculine energy, and/or your sexual urges. Consider also the symbol as a pun on "hey". Your dream may be trying to call your attention to something.
Enclosure (best thing I could find for the exhibits I saw
To dream that you are in an enclosure indicates that you are in defensive mode. Some situation in your waking life has put you on guard. You feel the need to protect and defend yourself.
To dream that you are in an enclosure that is shrinking indicates that you feel restrained and confined in some circumstance. It represents actual or perceived limitations. You need to start testing out your boundaries in order to grow.
To dream that you are in an enclosure made of glass suggests that you are too critical about a person or situation.

Yourself
To see yourself in your dream is a reflection of how you act and behave in your waking life.Consider what you are doing and how you are feeling in the dream for additional significance.
Character
To dream that you are playing a character indicates that you are avoiding some responsibility or refusing to acknowledge your role in it. Alternatively the dream means that you are putting on an act. By playing a character, you are pretending be someone else instead of being yourself. Consider a situation in your waking life where you are not being genuine.

Fictional Character
To see a fictional character in your dream implies that you are trying to escape from your own reality. Consider the qualities of the fictional character and how you may need to incorporate or acknowledge those qualities within yourself. Alternatively, the fictional character may be an archetypal symbol depending on the character.

Swamp
To see a swamp in your dream symbolizes the repressed and dark aspects of yourself. You may be feeling insecure. The dream may also be a pun on feeling swamped from work, a relationship, or other emotional burden.
To dream that you are walking through a swampy area foretells that you will find yourself in an adverse situation. You may experience setbacks and disappointments in love. Alternatively, walking through a swamp in your dream denotes the attainment of prosperity and pleasure through dangerous and underhanded means.

Marsh
To see or dream that you are at a marsh suggests instability in your emotional realm. You are feeling bogged down, insecure or unsure about the future or how to go about with achieving your goals.
To dream that a marsh is being drained indicates that you are feeling weary and emotionally drained. Alternatively, you feel lost.
Market (best I could find for Wal-Mart)
To dream that you are in a market represents some emotional or physical need that you are currently lacking in your life. You may be in need of nurturance and some fulfillment. Consider the specific items that you are shopping for. Alternatively, the market signifies frugality.
To see a barren market in your dream signifies depression and gloominess. There is a void in your life. If the market is large or well-stocked, then it means possibilities and choices.
Farm
To see or live on a farm in your dream suggests that you need to develop an aspect of yourself and utilize your potential. You are ready for growth.

Smell
To smell something in your dream indicates your past experiences and feelings you associate with that particular smell. Your dream is trying to convey a feeling with a familiar smell or scent. Alternatively, the scent may be part of your real environment which you have incorporated into your dream.
To smell death in your dream refers to a situation that has long been dead. It is time to stop dwelling on the past and move on.

This is all I have for now. I’m sure I will add more later once I find more explanations for the other things. But in the meantime, this will have to do.
In other announcements, I am currently borrowing a book from a friend called The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I’m not sure at this time if I want to do a book review on this but it could be a possibility. Until next time, have a happy reading time!

My Book Review: Hidden

My Book Review On Kristin and PC Cast’s Novel Hidden

Okay so before I blow up in a furious rage, let’s start off with my list of things that I liked about the book…and then a list of things that I fricken’ hated about the book. By the way, there will be spoilers so prepare your minds for such. And please forgive me for my foul language. I will be swearing often in this review.

Note: For those who are not familiar with the Marked series, I like to explain this series as a vampire version of the Harry Potter series. Only in this case, most of the protagonists are girls and it is basically about a school of vampires who deal with magic (gifts, elements, etc.) So hopefully that helps.

List of things I liked:
  1. Although I never really liked the Twins earlier in the book series (mostly because their dialogue as Twins became repetitive and boring) I do like that the authors separated the Twins so that they could be their own personalities. It was kind of nice to see these girls as their true selves.
  2. I also liked that the story finally presented Damien with a new love interest.
  3. Although it wasn’t much, I really did appreciate the clues at the end which hinted at what kind of past Neferet endured.
  4. I was pleasantly surprised that the story hinted that Nicole was potentially working on becoming one of the good guys instead of one of the bad guys.
  5. The awesome title of the novel reflects the overall theme to the story. Zoey and her group realized that in order to defeat Neferet, they needed to ally together as a team by using their specific prophecy gifts, sight gifts, and Zoey’s old magick stone. An odd weapon to have to fight against Neferet who has violence and darkness on her side but okay. Either way, I really liked how the students were paired up to work together and I really liked how Zoey’s stone was able to see Health in Aurox and see Lenobia’s old lover in Travis. The idea of Shaylin being able to see colors also reflects possibilities in any and all characters in the story and that fact alone is very deep, intriguing, and succeeds so well in reflecting the overall theme of the story.

List of things that I hated:
  1. Neferet is fricken’ still alive! Okay let me vent here but if it’s one thing that pisses me off the most is when authors have lingering villains that are still alive and still tormenting the protagonists for well over 10 books. I’m sorry but over time, her development as a character has become embarrassingly predictable. In my humble opinion, I really think Neferet should have been killed off once Kalona entered the picture because that way he could essentially take her place as the main villain. Don’t get me wrong, I love the father and son relationship that he developed once Kalona has proven to be a good guy but I totally could imagine him being a much greater threat than….this High “Bitch” Priestess Neferet.
  2. What the fuck is up with Erin? Okay yeah, I guess this story didn’t have enough roaring conflicts so the authors hooked Erin up with *gag me* Dallas. (Which is odd considering, I really liked the idea of Stevie Rae and Dallas being a couple together.) It’s disappointing that he turned out to be a bastard from hell working for Neferet but hey, the story just needed more drama.
  3. Who the fuck is Shaylin? If memory serves me correctly I believe she was introduced in the book before Hidden, however, I feel like her sudden involvement with what is going on in the House of Night feels way too rushed. I think it is cool that she can see colors, however again; I honestly don’t know how to feel about her except for, “wow, you joined the band wagon so fast”. It makes sense that she wants to make new friends in the vampire world because she is new and all that jazz…but her sudden appearance was simply…too sudden and not well received in my opinion.
  4. Where is Damien emotionally? After the tragic death of his boyfriend Jack, why haven’t the authors took the time to write chapters explaining his own personal journey, his own grief? I really want to see Damien expand to more than just “that friend who is the brains of this operation”. I really hope in the future that the authors take time to expand and help Damien’s character develop.
  5. Why in the bloody hell was Erebus in this book? I honestly felt like this character served no purpose other than torment Kalona…and that’s it? It was so stupid that Kalona was so easily quick to brush him off, and Erebus just “talked the talk but didn’t walk the walk”….AND WHAT REAL PURPOSE DID THEIR INTERATION PROVE? To see who has the biggest dick? Seriously, that time spent in writing Erebus should have been used to better develop the other and more important characters…but no. We get a random character from out of the blue who serves no other purpose other than being an annoying knat for readers who want to read THE REAL STORY.
  6. Erik Night, why so serious? Obviously there was a lot of drama written between him and Zoey but why in the hell did the authors try to hook him up with Shaylin? Was this intended for Shaylin to feel like she fit in with the story? If she was hooked up with one of the main characters from back in the day? Again, I felt like that development was rushed way too much. And no offense to Erik Night fans but damn, I figured by now he would have at least moved on from the past and expanded as a character in a positive way…rather than this perverted way.
  7. Zoey, okay how hard is it to kill the villain? If it was one thing that bothered me throughout the entire series was that the adults were too damn stupid to believe the nerd herd pointing out that Neferet is evil. When they do have the support of the adults, they have to go about in the politically correct way to take Neferet down. It sounds like to me that Zoey doesn’t want to kill Neferet however, this is a fantasy story so why was it so hard for Zoey and the nerd herd to poison Neferet’s food, or stab her with a knife, or cut off her head? I know she is supposedly a “goddess” but seriously, every being has their own set of weaknesses, how come our protagonists can’t figure this shit out? Maybe it’s been awhile since the last time I read the earlier books but there were so many opportunities where Neferet could have easily been defeated. Come on kiddos of the House of Night! Pick up an axe and end this villain! Please! She has lived far too long! For crying out loud, book 11 is on its way! Can we please get it right this time!?
  8. Okay I feel like I’m going to shoot myself in the foot with this next one but let’s talk about our good ol’ boy Stark. Where the hell is the cool old Stark that we use to know? I know he died and became a red vampire but why does everything he has to say or do be all about macho man stuff like “I will defend you Zoey because I am your Warrior!” and the obnoxious “let’s cuddle up and have sex just so you forget your problems momentarily”. I’m personally very tired of Zoey complaining about her struggles and her always being lovey dovey over her macho man who seems more like a sex toy than a boyfriend, future husband, or whatever you want to call him. That type of language has become so repetitive that I have suddenly lost all hope and respect for Zoey. Yeah sure she finally grew up at the end and figured out how to grow a pair of ovaries but seriously, why did it take THIS LONG just for her to get her act together? Which brings me into my next point.
  9. Who is Zoey now? I miss the good old books where she was adapting and growing with each new struggle. I really missed Zoey expanded with more of her vampire tattoos. I miss all that good stuff. I honestly wish her transformation into a woman would make her more confident than always crying her problems on Stark or seeking others to solve her problems for her. (Again I understand if I am shooting myself in the foot for this point but damn) I’m very tired of Zoey’s repetitive dialogue. For once, I would like to see Zoey do something completely unexpected or better yet, change her character and make her somehow reflect on her journey from being a newbie vampire to a fully grown and confident leader who isn’t afraid of that bitch Neferet. Zoey my dear girl, YOU ARE A VAMPIRE, you are the Darkness! Don’t be afraid of Darkness. Make Darkness be afraid of you!

My overall opinion of the Marked series:

I really liked books 1-7. My most favorite of all the books in the series is Burned and my main reason is that I honestly enjoyed the journey that Stevie Rae went through and how her relationship between herself and the other red fledglings changed. I really liked the earlier books when they described Stevie Rae as being trapped in a more disgusting monstrous state. From Stevie Rae’s perspective, she has transformed so much that I admire her and love how she overcame her “monster side”. I really miss reading about her struggles with being a red vampire and how she lost her humanity. You know, for a moment I even enjoyed Stark when he struggled with his humanity after he changed into a red vampire. To be honest, as I was reading Hidden, I honestly thought that one of the Twins was going to turn into a red vampire. I was given the impression that perhaps the authors would try to further distant the Twins by having one of them change into a different type of vampire. And honestly it would have been cool to see another one of the nerd herd go through the struggle of losing their humanity. (And getting their humanity back of course). I’m not going to lie, I was sort of let down that this prediction of mine didn’t come true.

After reading Hidden, I’m slightly afraid as to where this story is going to go next. Especially since Neferet isn’t dead and the Twins’ situation isn’t resolved. Obviously the humans are more involved into the House of Night so does this mean that Neferet is going to use her evil red fledglings to manipulate the humans to kill all the vampires at the House of Night? Will Neferet finally succeed in killing one or more members in Zoey’s nerd herd? (I predict maybe Aphrodite or Shaylin purely based on their effective gifts). I suppose the authors left things unclear so that there was more room for them to write new things…or throw in random characters that are annoyingly rushed into the story that makes no sense at all? The possibilities are endless.

I will admit that I will most likely buy the next book right away when it comes out, purely based on the fact that I grew up reading this series and I watched these characters grow in certain aspects. As much as I want to flip tables and scream at the top of my lungs at how horrible the novels have become as of late, I really want to keep reading and cross my fingers that the nerd herd will finally destroy Neferet for good! The only reason, in fact, is that I hope Neferet’s downfall comes very soon. If it doesn’t then I very well may abandon the entire series and no longer give a shit about Zoey or her nerd herd.

So folks, now you have it….my book review of Hidden by Kristin and PC Cast. I do apologize again for the swearing and the fact that this was mostly a negative book review but to be honest, I’m frustrated with this book series. I can only hope that I am not the only one who thinks this way too. But until next time, have a happy reading time!

Suggestions For Next Book Review?

Suggestions For Next Book Review?

I'm still currently reading Hidden by Cast, however I want to start thinking of the next possible books to read for future reviews. I've been thinking of books that I never read before like Matched, City of Bones, I Am the Messenger, and so on. I'm open minded to reading other books so feel free to suggest them. I've also been thinking about re-reading some old books that I want to read again like The Looking Glass Wars, The Sight, The Firebringer Trilogy (by Meredith Ann Pierce), and so on.

I've already have a lot of things to say about the current book I'm reading, Hidden. Let me just hint that there are a lot of negative things to say so far. I will apologize ahead of time that the review will consist of things that I had issues with in the novel. I have a love and hate relationship with the Marked series in general which I will get to explaining later when I start my review. There is so much that I love about the series and so many things that I either really hate or responded with a "what the f**k?"

So anyways, if any of you have suggestions for books, please let me know! And prepare thyselves with an epic tongue lashing beyond comprehension. Or just prepare for a long lecture. Until next time! Have a happy reading time!

Announcement and A Dream Story

Quick Announcement!

My first book review is going to be the 10th novel Hidden in the Marked series (House of Night series) by P.C. and Kristin Cast. I know this seems a little odd that my first official book review will be on a book so far into a particular series however I've already read the previous novels and I am most likely going to do an review of the House of Night series as a whole and then do some kind of analysis of book 10, Hidden. I am more than happy to discuss my favorite novels of this series and my least favorite novels of this series. After reading 9 of these novels I do have a lot to say so writing my review will take some time for me to put together my thoughts on these novels. Please be patient with me and thank you for understanding!

For your amusement and delight, I have here one of the many dream stories that I had put together during my college career. It's mostly a story that relied heavily on action and the environment vs. character dialogue. Hopeful to some, this short story will be amusing. This was a very random dream that I had and to this day I've always been baffled with it. Please enjoy!

Silver Knight
Dream Date: January 12, 2010
By: Missy

The Silver Knight raced across the slippery snow fully armored in his full suite. It caused a lot of strain to his tall frame. The wind blew across his brow keeping his heated forehead cool in that winter blizzard. The peasants of the village were hot on his heels and they carried with them weapons meant to kill him. After everything he has ever done to help these people, they were now trying to kill him. They accused him for slaying the Popper family and burning down their barns and homestead. The Silver Knight felt angry and frustrated that these fools would accuse him of that when the Knight was trying to protect them from the Scarlet Dragon. That beast was to blame for their deaths. It was also the same beast who has been terrorizing the entire kingdom under his wretched flame.
Without pausing he charged into a home and raced upstairs only giving a quick glance at the glowing fireplace promising warmth. The smell of pork and mead engulfed his senses. As much as he wanted to eat and rest, the villagers wouldn’t let him. He kicked down a sleeping chamber door and leaped to the window. Falling on his knees he pulled out a magical device that was hidden secretly in the metal folds. It was oval shaped and sharply pointed at each end. It was black but the gold design was all swirly and formed the unique picture of a dragon. There were three buttons with a picture on each one. The first was the sun, the second was a woman with her arms out ready for an embrace, and the last was the land or ground.
Footsteps pounded up the wooden stairs in an angry frantic pace. The Silver Knight hit the button with the woman and before the villagers could stab him with pitchforks he disappeared into thin air. The second he hit that button it felt like his heart had completely stop beating. He began to feel very strange. His spirit stirred wildly within him due to this sudden and glorious change. He felt very light as if he could fly. He could already feel the affect of the magically device pulse into his veins. He was no longer a living breathing being anymore. His body twisted and twirled in the vortex that carried him to a time in which he knew he didn’t belong. He was on his way to the land of the future. A dangerous and dark future since he was unable to destroy the Scarlet Dragon from his present time period. Like a shadow he drifted into the new domain.
Slowly rising through the ground he glanced around in his new dark environment. The walls were painted black and the floor that he stood on was dark grey carpet. Another presence was with him. At the corner of his eyes he could see a woman that was 6’1” with long curly golden hair that reached down to her curved hips. Her face turned and her extremely narrowed black eyes met his. She looked fierce standing there looking directly at him without having to look up or to look down on him. He knew she wasn’t from this time period, nor was she from his. Her white tunic hugged tightly across her curvy frame. The skirt only stopped half way down her thighs. Her skin below there looked very much exposed except for her sandals of strings and the leather leggings which hugged her calves for protection. The armor she wore was purely light weight and gleamed in a golden color. The breastplate was designed to fit her body and showed it off her feminine figure. Thick golden amulets decorated around her neck and they would jingle when she made any sudden movements. She also had golden armbands or wrist guards. Finally her head was adorned with a beautiful golden headband that would mark her as royalty. She had the same blue glowing aura around her body like he does; symbolizing that she too was a ghost. Only she was a ghost of the past while the Silver Knight was a ghost of the present.
The Golden Warrior looked over the Silver Knight. He was the same height as she. His long stingy brown hair peeked out of his helmet. His silver armor looked thick and heavy by sight alone. It was decorated with images of lions and falcons. His helmet was sharp looking almost like it was a blade. The metal circled around his colorless eyes complimenting his amazingly perfect round arches. A stretch of metal reached down to his chin on both sides making his face look sharp and intimidating. The sword that hung in the scabbard by his left hip looked very heavy and promised to be sharp enough to cut a man in two. She wasn’t intimidated at all that this man was extremely bulky and muscular. She made her bets that she could kill anything or anyone she sets her sights on. The Silver Knight could tell that she wasn’t afraid of him at all.
They didn’t even bother to exchange small talk. They moved forward and explored the new futuristic environment. They both took in this new place and felt their ghostly spirits boil over with excitement and the promise of battle ahead. She drank in all the new sights keeping her eyes sharp and her head snapping left and right at new objects. He was slow with his observation, wondering at how their worlds developed to this. Everything was new to them, not just by sights, but by scents as well. The air felt very thick and he also noted that there were no windows. The ghosts couldn’t help but feel claustrophobic here. As they moved about in the strange place the Silver Knight had a dark feeling that someone would find them at any moment. He looked at the Golden Warrior and noticed that she was extremely tense as if she felt the same way he did. The place in which the ghosts found themselves in was a building which has 6 floors. They just happened to be on the top floor in a very dark secluded office. It looked like it was used regularly. He wondered why the magical device would bring him here when he needed to find and slay the evil Scarlet Dragon.
The desk was so full of papers that it was hard to tell if there was a desk there at all. The phone was off its dial and the lamp flickered on and off as if the bulb wasn’t screwed in all the way. Movie posters decorated the black walls. Mostly horror films by the images of monsters, screaming dams, and hands dripping with blood. There was a paper shredder in the far corner right next to the sofa. White confetti was all over that area making it look like it was snowing. The ghosts stayed on their toes ready to leap into action as they looked at these strange unusual things. Then panic hit them when they heard someone marching up the seemingly screeching staircase just outside the office door.
The Silver Knight took in a deep breath and relaxed his entire body. His tall ghostly frame began to shrink. The Golden Warrior mirrored his action and she too began to shrink. They became the size of mice and scurried under that sofa hiding just behind a white mountain of confetti. He kept his hand on the hilt of his sword and she did the same. Their eyes watched the door waiting for the dark presence to come. When the door finally opened they both gasped softly. The dark presence was a man who stood to be 5’6” and dressed in the garments of the Silver Knight’s time period. His long black robes made him look like a shade as he glided across the floors with fabric flowing behind him like a shadowed train. He was slender both in torso as well as arms and legs. His curly black hair was short and his beard was short as well as properly groomed. They were astonished to see that his eyes looked very disgusting. They were black and yellow which were similar to dragon’s eyes. They knew this dark presence wasn’t human and it wasn’t the dragon either.
The Golden Warrior spoke softly, “Evil Priest of the Red Beast”
Her accent was something he couldn’t identify but he still understood her. The Silver Knight grumbled back at her, “Corrupted Mage of the Scarlet Dragon.”
The evil man sat behind the desk and started to grunt as he pawed through the unorganized piles of papers. Streams of curses poured out of his wicked thin mouth when he failed to find what he was looking for. Then he brushed a few papers aside and opened a black laptop. He pounded on the surface trying to get the thing to wake up. He lacked patience. He got up and kicked the desk before storming out of the office slamming the door shut behind him. They listened and his footsteps grew fainter as he traveled downward. Then the ghosts retreated from their hiding place and grew to normal size again. The Golden Warrior wandered behind that desk and gazed at the mess. The laptop appeared to be damaged since it was creating sparks and smoke signals. None of this made any sense to her. Her sharp look found another door just behind the desk. Without hesitating she opened the door. He was right behind her when they stood in that doorway looking down at some objects that consumed the confined space. The floor was completely covered with stuffed animals.
The animal that grabbed their attention the most was a very scruffy worn out teddy bear. It had a frown on its brown face and its eyes were tiny. The arms and legs like the other stuffed animals were as limp as a rag doll. They couldn’t help but feel puzzled as to why the dark presence would have children’s toys in the office closet. It seemed strange beyond comprehension. The small room was just full of sadness that they could feel dripping into their core. They could barely hear the faint pleas coming from those toys. Although it felt strange, the Golden Warrior took the bear, the bunny, and the kitty. She placed them carefully in her gold belt around her waist. The Silver Knight snatched the puppy, the horse, and the bird. He copied the same thing she did by tucking away the animals in his belt. In this awkward situation, they could have sworn they heard the critters rejoice.
Rapid footsteps were heard coming up the stairs. The ghosts jumped in alarm, shrank, and hide themselves beneath the desk with the toys in tow. The evil man marched in and saw that the closet door was opened so he gracefully moved there to investigate. He hummed really loudly stroking his bearded chin roughly as if his own hair follicles suddenly agitated him. The Golden Warrior at this point felt terrified at the thought of being caught and her nervousness caused her to stumble away. That movement caused her amulet jingle very loudly. The evil man turned sharply looking for the source of the noise. When he finally looked down, his evil dragon-like eyes narrowed at the tiny ghosts. He stomped his foot in anger. The impact was enough to knock the ghosts off their feet. They recovered themselves, got up, and fled. The evil man got on his knees and crawled after them only having to crush his skull into the desk. His long boney fingers looked like white claws scraping against the floor. It swayed sharply left, right, up, and down looking for the small ghosts.
The ghosts raced under the furniture making it difficult for the Corrupted Mage to follow them. Then they both relaxed and phased through the floor. They fell in the darkness and landed on a cold lobby floor. Even from bellow, they heard the evil man curse and kick the desk upstairs. They grew to normal size and fled racing through the walls like the ghosts they were. They heard the Mage shriek out, “INTRUDERS!”
The building suddenly became very hot like a volcano. A loud vicious roar echoed the entire building making the walls vibrate and the ceilings began to crumble. A fog of black smoke swirled in and lapped at the ghosts. The walls that were once black began to glow and lava started to ooze down in heavy black and red clumps. Rubble was falling down from the ceiling just barely missing the fleeing ghosts. They found themselves in what looked like a theatre. They practically flew through the red seats and passed the enormous stage that took up most of the space in this room. A reptilian tail swept in and the spikes knocked out a section of seats. That impact knocked them over tumbling over the junk. Rubble continued to rain upon them. The toys fell out of the ghosts’ belts. As if released by a magical enchantment, the toy animals stood up on their cotton filled legs. They watched the animals come back to life right before their very own eyes. They were a little clumsy at first shifting their weight on their cotton legs. Then the toys laughed and jumped up and down in delight. When the dragon’s tail crashed into the room again it stopped the toys from rejoicing. Their little button and sewn smiling faces instantly fell to a frown. The toys heads jerked awkwardly and then their bodies began to grow and morph. The creatures of cotton transformed to images of smudged mud until they finally shifted into forms that the ghosts recognized.
The ghosts gasped at the sight. They were a mix of children from different time periods. The teddy bear was the Popper’s son, a boy in green poor pheasants clothing, blazing red hair, and freckles all over his face and arms. One child was dressed in a toga and wore a crown of olive leaves. The rest of the children were modern children dressed in jeans, sweaters, and jackets. And one boy dressed like a gangster with loose pants and a ball cap worn backwards. They helped the Silver Knight and the Golden Warrior back on their feet. With might they have never seen before, one of the children completely kicked down one of the doors that lead them to escape to the outside world. It was night and the kids raced across the road towards a gothic looking clock tower. The red head boy jumped up and down pointing at the structure. To their sudden shock, the building behind them exploded and the monstrous form of the Scarlet Dragon reared his hide into the air. The air around them began to grow stronger as if a hazard wind storm threatened to blow them away. The beast hissed with smoke pouring out of his nostrils and mouth. The burgundy bat wings stretched out and formed a perfect dramatic fan around the Scarlet Dragon making it look much bigger and that much more terrifying. It’s black and yellow eyes gazed at the two ghosts. It took itself to the air and circled around them.
The Golden Warrior moved like she was lightning, striking hard and fast against the Scarlet Dragons hide. But her hits were deflected by the scales and seemed not to harm the beast at all. The Dragon was not amused with her feeble attempts. The creature seized her by the hair with his clawed reptile paw and jerked her head back exposing her throat in sight. She tried to pull away and to phase through but her abilities and strength dissolved into nothing. The Dragon’s powers were too great and seemed to easily disable her ghost powers. She couldn’t escape since the creature managed to get its claws tangled in her hair thus trapping her in its clutches. The monster sank its jagged sharp teeth into her flesh. Blood came pouring out like someone who accidentally left the facet running. She gagged and appeared to be drowning in her own blood. The Scarlet Dragon released her and let her fall. Her body slumped to the ground, face extended up to the sky. Her dead black eyes were looking up at the red night sky.
The Silver Knight felt an inner rage grow within him. It was a monster within him that ordered the Knight to slay this monster once and for all. He knew it was time to deal justice to the Scarlet Dragon that killed people and that has stolen children’s souls that were slaved into toys. He kept his head firmly held high and his colorless gaze met the Scarlet Dragon’s glowing narrowed yellow orbs. The fire in the monsters throat crackled at him and it snorted at the Knight as if to say, ‘So you think you can defeat me? Come forth and show me.’
The brave man made no promises. He absolutely refused to lose even if this battle would lead to his death. It didn’t matter. He didn’t really care what happened to him. He held his ground waiting for his enemy to make the first move. When the Dragon grew restless of this waiting game, it lashed out at the Silver Knight. The Dragon’s long neck charged forward pointing its sharp horns right at its intended target. The Knight dove out of the way and then tumbled towards the beast slashing his enchanted blade at the Dragon’s neck. The impact of the blade striking the neck was the sound of thunder clashing the earth. The beast hissed and snapped its powerful jaws at the pest. The Knight dodged the attack by leaping over the thick neck thus resulting in the beast accidentally biting its own neck which caused it an enormous amount of pain as well as damage to the scales. Its shriek was so high pitched and loud that it felt like the Knights ear drums were busted and were leaking blood.
The Dragon’s neck and head twitched. The Knight mustered all his spirit and called forth a storm to aid him. The black clouds above clustered together and the skies began to flash white lights. A powerful bolt of lightning struck the giant reptile. The Scarlet Dragon’s body began to shake uncontrollably. Sparks zapped the creature’s eyes and wires of electricity danced between the pair of horns on its head. While the beast appeared dazed and distracted the Silver Knight then tried to summon the element of water. But the air was dry and full of smoke. The earth contained very little of water that he couldn’t drown the Dragon in it. So a single stream of glowing blue water obeyed the Knight and deep within the soils of the earth, the stream grew like a vine upward and wrapped around the mighty sword. The blade was now enchanted with the element of water. Now he had to somehow manage to get the blade to the Dragons head. The Scarlet Dragon finally focused back on the pest at its feet. It roared directly at him. The vibrations in that roar were strong enough to force the Knight to slide back against the destroyed building. Then the Dragon swung its entire body full circle. The spiked tail was aimed directly at the Knight intending to puncture holes as well as crush the bones in his body. The Silver Knight ducked out of range of the attack. Yet one of the spikes of the tail caught hold of some of his armor which made the Knight spin and crash into large shards of building rubble. He felt his helmet smash first and he could feel the top cave in on him. The brave man unbuckles his helmet and lets the dented thing fall to the ground. The sword remained firm in his hand yet still. He got up and faced the Dragon and hoped that his blurry vision would clear.
Before he could do anything else the Scarlet Dragon spread open its wings and flew upward. It made a complete circle around the Silver Knight blasting a perfect ring of fire around him. The flames grew higher and higher as the beast circled around its prey. He felt like he was being roasted in his own armor. Everything was getting hot really fast. He couldn’t see anything anymore but the bright red flames around him. Then the Scarlet Dragon penetrated the fire cage and with its mouth wide open it dove at the Knight intending to end this battle once and for all.
The Silver Knight had thrust the magical blade up into the Dragon’s final attack. He didn’t look away but gazed right up at his attacker. The blade embedded itself into the Dragons skull and the element of water was released that disabled the Dragon’s fire gland. The beast’s mighty jaws had already bitten down hard on the Knights entire body. A sharp tooth had penetrated the Knight’s jugular. Both opponents endured critical hits. Chunks of brains and blood came pouring out of the Dragon’s head wound. The Scarlet Dragon’s body slumped down heavy causing powerful winds to put out all the flames. Unable to breathe fire, the beast started to make hopeless clicking noises. The Silver Knight could already feel his ghost form fading. His lungs were already filling up fast with blood.
The six curious children wandered close to the ashy battle grounds. The Dragon’s yellow orbs turned completely black and it shuddered before it went completely limp and died. They stood there and gazed at the monster that took their souls into slavery. Then more children appeared out of nowhere. The victims of the Scarlet Dragon were free at last from the enchantment and they could finally cross over to the other side. Popper’s boy climbed over the rubble and fell to his knees next to the Silver Knight. The Knight couldn’t say anything. His colorless eyes have rolled into the back of his head, meeting death once and for all. The boy rested his little hand on the Knight’s exposed hand.
A woman gasped and fainted at the sight of a dead knight in her sleeping chamber. The peasants cried in shock and took a few frightful steps back. The man they were seeking to kill was already dead. The Silver Knight’s armor was dented and punctured with holes from the Dragon’s fatal bite. His throat was still bleeding from the battle. Their faces turned as white as a sheet when they saw the Popper’s deceased son kneeling next to the dead man. The little boy took the Knights hands and folded them across his chest in a more proper funeral fashion. His eyes looked up at his audience who remained awed and silent. They didn’t understand what happened but the bite marks on the Knights body and the ghost boy was proof enough that he had sacrificed his life to slay the monster. Then the boy returned his attention back towards his savior and humbly spoke,

“Your bravery in battle has served you well.
You released us from the Dragon’s evil spell.
We thank you for saving us on this dreadful night.
Be at peace, oh brave Silver Knight.”

Introduction

A Brief Introduction

Welcome and greetings to you all! Let’s talk about something fun, yeah? Well if you are anything like me, perhaps you take delight in reading books. It’s that perfect escape to get away from reality and go on an adventure into the realm of fantasy. Here I would like to do reviews of books that I have read and perhaps even recommend these books to others who may share the same interest in these types of novels. Just to name a few, I have fully enjoyed reading novels such as The Looking Glass Wars, Marked Series, The Dark-Hunter Series, The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings, The Sight, Wicked Lovely, Eragon,
Blood and Chocolate, Harry Potter, Wicked, the Amelia Peabody Mystery Series, and so much more. By far, my favorite author in the entire world is Sherrilyn Kenyon and I am madly in love with her Dark-Hunter series. Words cannot describe how much I love her modern writing style and her unique way of reinventing vampires. As you can tell by the brief selection of books that I mentioned, I am mostly interested in adventure, romance, fantasy, and mystery novels. However I am a pretty open minded reader and I am willing to read things outside my comfort zone.

In addition to posting book reviews, I would also like to post some dreams that I had which I have written into short stories. Understandably dreams are sketchy at best however I tried my best to form my dreams into short stories that perhaps would be somewhat entertaining. Who knows, maybe I will discover that others have encountered similar dreams or similar themes that are often found in dreams. I would like to believe that most writers find their inspiration from dreams and I am one of those writers in which I have actually been inspired to write based on a scene I would see in one of my dreams. It has been said that dreams are the products of our unconscious mind at work, so why not entertain others with the products of our minds? I believe that every story has potential and it’s only a matter of working things out in the manner of how the story is told.

That’s all I have at the moment but until next time, have fun reading and writing!
